The Supercharged brand has done us well but its time to move forward. Its clear the scope of our mission is more than installing solar pannels and batteries for people and businesses and so the mission has been expanded a little. Infact a re imagining of what energy could be is in progress.
Supercharged Ltd is now Energy2 Ltd
Energy 2.0 is everything the oil age was not. This time its personal !

After months of refinement and testing, we have finally got the first batteries into customers’ hands. I’m super impressed with how they are working. A single battery and inverter can now be expected to last for decades and run a normal home. A larger home with a heat pump can have two of them wired in parallel to make a 30kWh battery. This is a game changer. Imagine taking a heat pump that’s already 3-4 times more efficient than an electric heater, and then powering it with overnight grid energy that’s three times cheaper. I think we are looking at a multiplication here: 3 times more efficient x 3 times cheaper energy. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that a 900% increase in performance to price?

Somehow, through sheer determination or madness (or both), it’s here! This is the British Supercharged 15kWh battery. I’m really excited; we’ve been testing it for a few months. There are still a few things to change, but it’s working, it’s beautiful, and it’s going to change how we think about energy storage.

I've been watching this fantastic website for years. It does a great job of explaining how Octopus Energy's tariffs work, which ones could be the best for you, and it also shows the next 24 hours of the Octopus Agile price tracking tariff. Check out Energy Stats here: Energy Stats.

Some places you just have no choice, off-grid is the only way, you have to make any power that you want to use. But for most of us we use the national grid for electricity. Until one day it just stops working, this is what happened to one customer recently, the cable supplying the home broke, the power went out. Luckily they had a solar and battery system that was off-grid capable. They switched to emergency power from the battery and that was enough to run the whole home for two weeks. The batteries were topped up in the day time from solar, and the home owners hardly noticed the grid had gone.
There are different levels of being ready to go off grid. From an emergency power socket (for the fridge and boiler to keep running) - to a full of grid property or business. These are the really fin projects, get in contact if your interested in going off grid or even just being power cut ready.

Most systems are networkable now, and thats certainly true for solar and battery systems. Here we have taken a battery system and integrated into a dashboard for the home owner to keep an eye on their battery level. This is using the excellent home assistance software. Also automations can be set up to turn appliances on and off and view the weather etc.

I'm always on the lookout for the best night time rates, and today, the 20th april, octopus have just dropped their intelligent tarrif night rate 25% from 10p to 7.5p.
This is great news for EV drivers and even better news for home battery customers, as the night tarrif applies to all usage, not just the usage of the vehicle. Providing we finish up the night charge in the 5 hours from 11:30pm until 5:30am its a complete win win.
If you want to switch, please use my referal link here: https://share.octopus.energy/rich-hill-609
They should switch you in 7 days to a normal tariff, and then once you meet their requirements for go or intelligent its a very quick fix. Just make sure to let us know so we can update your charging schedule.

How about this for a nifty solar install. No roofing, no ladders, no ground mount builds, just plastic buckets, filled with gravel, a micro inverter and solar pannel, plug them into the mains and your off.
You can even have them dotted arround the garden, all at different angles to make the most of the days sun.
Internally all thats required is a hub device that monitors all the panels and gives you a nice app from which to see all the lovely free energy landing on your panels.
Each panel can be postioned in the app and you can see how much each one makes.

Something to do with factories or farms in the 1800's apparently !
Phones have gotten quite good at keeping up with the clocks changing, ovens and inverters not so much, some systems will automaticaly update to british summer time, but many also wont mange it, why is this important ?
Scheduled charging over night needs to start and finish at specific times to make best use of the cheaper night rates, as do electric cars, night storage heaters, electric hot water tanks etc.
This is a good time to check all your apps and make sure its all correct, we have gone and done some checks on customers systems and corrected where necessary.
If you are still wrong, drop us a message.
